It is a great honor to be able to work with clients as they navigate the challenges that life presents. Accompanying individuals as they explore their internal and external worlds is sacred work—work that I enjoy deeply. In my work with clients, I focus on connection, building a therapeutic space, identifying what struggles exist and then work to find relief, resolve and acceptance.
My client-centered approach prioritizes meeting clients where they are and working collaboratively to identify goals of treatment. In working towards these goals, many different therapeutic modalities are often utilized including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing as well as psychodynamic and mindfulness approaches. In working with younger people, I often employ play and art therapy techniques to provide different avenues into identifying, understanding and reacting skillfully to emotions.
In my 20 years in the field, I have worked in elementary, middle and high schools and in adult outpatient settings. I have had the privilege of working with children of all ages, their parents and adults as they navigate depression, anxiety, grief and major life transitions. My work with clients is characterized by unconditional positive regard, warmth, openness, honest communication and collaboration. The themes that I have seen in my work with young clients and their parents include: navigating feelings of overwhelm, depression, anxiety and family reorganization. My work with adolescents can be best summarized as helping teens and their parents with the oftentimes bumpy transition from childhood to adulthood. Adult clients often want to get to the root of a problem, increase self-awareness and insight, experience deep healing, and make meaningful changes in their relationship with themselves and others. There are so many ways to use therapy to improve your life, and I would be honored to accompany you on this journey.
Free time finds me: Hiking with my dog, reading, camping or hanging out with my family.
